At Eastern Atlantic States Technical College, we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions to address common inquiries about our programs and qualifications. Our FAQs provide comprehensive answers to help students make informed decisions about their education.

How can I apply for a SWAC card?

To apply for a SWAC card you must complete the enrollment process online, for more information click here. The individual member application is $504 for a 3-Year term, the Training Center does not reimburse for the SWAC card. If you have any questions regarding the application process, please contact their Customer Service center here.

How can I get a copy of my OSHA 30 card?
To get a copy of your OSHA card, please contact your Home training center. If they have a copy of your card on file, they can email it to you. If your training center does not have a copy of the card, they can email you an OSHA card replacement form. You can use this form to request a new card.

Please note, OSHA cards will not be issued if the training took place more than five (5) years ago. If your training took place more than 5 years ago, you must retake the OSHA 30 course again. In addition, OSHA cards can only be replace ONCE.

How can I renew my OSHA 30 card?

Although the OSHA 30 card does not expire, many employers require you to renew every 5 years. To renew your OSHA 30 card, you must retake the OSHA 30 course again. Go to the "Scheduled Classes" tab on the homepage to view classes being offered in our training centers.

How can I get the Site Safety Training Card (SST card) that's required in NYC?

What is an SST Card?

SST card stands for Site Safety Training Card. These cards provide proof that workers and supervisors have completed specific training required by the NYC Department of Buildings (DOB). NYC Local Law 196 increased the amount of training required by construction workers, specifically those who work on job sites that require a superintendent.

 

Obtaining an SST Card – If you work in New York City and would like to obtain an SST card, you must complete the required training with a NYC DOB approved provider. SST cards are obtained by completing a specified amount of training. Each card has its own set of training courses that must be completed before the card can be issued.

 

For a WORKER Card, you must complete 40 Hours of required training, which includes:

  • OSHA 30 Construction (MUST be in-person or with voice authentication) get it here ► online with Voice-Authentication
  • 8 Hour Fall Prevention
  • 2 Hour Drug and Alcohol Awareness

For a SUPERVISOR Card, you must complete 62 Hours of required training:

IMPORTANT: Once you complete the courses, you must contact the provider to request the SST card. OSHA training must be done in-person or online with voice authentication. Our training center does not offer Site Safety Training classes; these are specific to NYC and must be taken by an NYC DOB authorized provider. In addition, our training center does not reimburse for any SST courses. Our training centers do however offer the OSHA 30 training, please visit  www.eascarpenterstech.edu to check class availability and to register. If you do not see any OSHA 30 classes posted, please check the website monthly and the beginning of the month for the next available session.

How can I get a Supported Scaffold User Card?

If working in New York City, Local Law 52 requires that all workers using supported scaffold on construction sites in New York City must have a Supported Scaffold User Card. This card must be renewed every 4 years.

If you are interested in obtaining the Supported Scaffold User Card, you must complete the 4-Hour Supported Scaffold User course in-person. Once you successfully complete the course, you will be issued the Scaffold User card. Check schedule here. Please note, this course is not offered at our Training Center and we do not reimburse for this training.

*IMPORTANT: When registering, please make sure to register for the In-Person class NOT the online version.

How can I renew my INSTALL Carpet and/or Resilient Certifications?

To renew your INSTALL certification/s, you will need to complete 8 hours of craft related training. See below for a list of CITF classes that meet the 8 hours requirement:

Please note: Members MUST successfully complete 8 hours of craft related training PRIOR to their Certifications’ expiration date or within the 1-year grace period. If you have both the INSTALL Carpet and INSTALL Resilient certifications, 8 hours our training will refresh both certifications. Certifications will update once the INSTALL certification reaches the expiration date.
